What is PRP Therapy?
PRP therapy uses a concentrated portion of your own blood that contains a high number of platelets and growth factors. These growth factors help stimulate healing, tissue repair, collagen production, and regeneration.
A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm, similar to routine lab work. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge, which separates the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the sample. Once collected, the PRP is either injected or applied to the treatment area. Because PRP comes from your own blood, the risk of allergic reaction is very low.
